OUCH! IT’S A CANKER SORE

Home » Services » Pediatric dentistry » Canker sores

Canker sores are small ulcers in the mouth. Nobody really knows or understands what causes them, though there are many theories. Many people believe that stress and certain foods can cause them. If your child already has a sore, stress and certain foods can also make it much worse. Sometimes they can be caused by underlying health issues including problems with the immune system, nutritional problems, and gastrointestinal diseases.

A canker sore is different from a cold sore. Symptoms include painful sores around the mouth, on the roof of the mouth, on the tongue, or inside the cheeks. Your child may notice a burning sensitivity at the site of the sores. Your child may also have a fever, feel tired, and have swollen lymph nodes.

It is our goal to help your child have a beautiful and healthy smile. If you have any questions about how we can help, don’t hesitate to contact us today at (702) 255-0133.
